How long have you been with Northrop Grumman? How did you hear about us?
I’ve been with Northrop Grumman since May 2019. I first heard about the company from when I worked at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Already in the aerospace industry, I heard many great things about Northrop Grumman and about the interesting projects and programs they were working on.
What is your military background? How did your military background set you up for the role you are in now? What was your experience transitioning into Northrop Grumman as a veteran?
I first joined the United States Coast Guard (USCG) in 2007 as an active duty service member. After my tour in Bahrain and Kuwait in 2010, I decided to transition into the Reserves so I could continue my education. In the USCG, I am Storekeeper (Logistics Specialist) and experience all aspects of the supply process. Throughout my military career, I worked in procurement, accounting, budgeting, shipping/receiving, and at one point was a supervisor. I believe these experiences helped me with my current role as a Principal Supply Chain Procurement Specialist. Transitioning into Northrop Grumman was very smooth for me. As a Buyer for the company, I noticed many of the policies and procedures are very similar to the ones we follow in the military.
What do you hope to gain from your new role?
I hope to gain more experience and knowledge with the procurement process. Having been with the company for 2 years now, I have seen how supporting management can be by encouraging us to explore other roles within the company or providing us with opportunities to be a leader on projects. I personally think it is great that we have leaders that push us to grow and learn new things.
What advice would you give to other veterans interested in a career in Northrop Grumman?
My advice for other veterans interested in joining our team here at Northrop Grumman would be to stay positive and don’t be afraid to try new things. I know that transitioning from the military to the “real world” can be challenging and sometimes a little scary, but just know that there are many other veterans that went through the same thing and can be there to help support you through the process.
