Northrop Grumman UK Delivers Software Update to NATO

NGUK has successfully deployed, ahead of schedule, its latest command & control capability, ICS (Interoperable C4i Services) to NATO’s Joint Warfare Centre in Stavanger, Norway, replacing the Maritime Command and Control Information System (MCCIS) that NGUK has been supporting for over 25 years. Delivering the first system upgrade only 5 months after contract award, ICS brings significant enhancements to usability and capability. It continues to generate and distribute the critical recognised maritime picture (RMP) and maritime domain awareness across NATO nations supporting the long-term security of the Alliance and its partners, especially during this period of unprecedented instability and threat.

Commonality of user experience with the extant solution ensures that operators can seamlessly adapt to operating the latest system, immediately enhancing the Alliance’s maritime situational awareness capability. This, together with NGUK’s depth of experience, means that the whole programme will be delivered in just 18 months, including installation at some 29 key NATO facilities.

ICS is the centrepiece of NGUK’s Vigilant Command suite of integrated C2 capabilities and tools. From enabling the RMP for some of the most demanding navies in the world to integrating open-source intelligence and supporting decision making with artificial intelligence, Vigilant Command brings together a multi-domain, multi-agency solution that greatly enhances joint maritime security.

“We are proud to continue supporting this key pillar of NATO’s mission, enhancing maritime security with the latest, UK-developed software” said Nick Chaffey, Chief Executive, UK. “We look forward to building on our successes through a programme of further enhancements as we continue to make significant investments into our products.”
